Ana was my personal competition horse and a very special mare. Bred by Pecan Hollow Farm in central Texas, she was by the Trakehner stallion Sieg out of Beryllium by Wildfeuer. Her bloodlines include Donauwind (sire of Olympic jumping stallion Abdullah), Mahagoni (sire of Olympic dressage stallion Peron), and Stradelle (dam of Elite Trakehner stallion Sixtus). Riding her each day was a joy and she was the light of our lives! We said goodbye to her on April 16, 2011. After a three-year battle with laminitis, it got the upper hand and hopes of offering her a comfortable life disappeared. She is buried here on the farm in a magnificant spot that has a view of the barn, house, arenas and pastures so she can still boss us all around. A special thanks is due to the people who were so instrumental in the wonderful life we had with her -- they each know their contribution: Austin Edens, Damon O'Gan, Matt Evans, Michelle Gibson, Carol and Rich Schmickrath, Kumi Smedley and Trish Phelps. She will be forever in our hearts -- Here is a tribute to our precious red-headed girl.
